Getting young people with a migration background into vocational training - that is the aim of our non-profit association for the promotion of linguistic and social integration.
Since its foundation in 2015, numerous scholarships have been awarded for advanced German language courses in recent years. Since 2018, the focus of funding has been on projects in cooperation with Cologne vocational colleges.

Projects and events
Improving your German language skills during an internship at a Cologne-based company - this is the goal we pursue together with GRETA, a French employment promotion organisation. For more than 10 years, young people from France have regularly participated in this project and come to Cologne, where they receive a warm welcome from our host families. During the internship they gain important experience on the German labour market and expand their professional network.
Fit in Deutsch
FIT in Deutsch is the name of the programme initiated by the NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) Ministry of Education, which enables recently immigrated pupils from vocational colleges in Cologne to improve their German language skills during their holidays. We have been running intensive holiday courses on a regular basis since August 2018 through our association VSIJM.e.V. Apart from good language tuition, we place particular importance on joint leisure activities. Making learning German fun!
AZUBI STARTER - your way to training
To help young immigrant pupils from Cologne's vocational colleges find their way into vocational training, the idea of establishing a German course to accompany their education was conceived in cooperation with the Berufskolleg Ulrepforte. The project AZUBI STARTER is supported by the RheinEnergieStiftung Jugend/Beruf, Wissenschaft, the Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds, wir helfen e.V., the Henner Will Stiftung and our association VSIJM.e.V.
Bénédict Express is the name of our school newsletter, which has been published annually since 2015 with a new motto. Every year, a group of course participants and teachers join together to make the newsletter an exciting read with personal stories, interesting interviews, cartoons, collages, photos and much more!
Improve your German language skills and make friends at the same time? That’s exactly what we offer with our accompanying tutorials. During museum visits, sports sessions or small conversation meetings, individual volunteers from Cologne will help you to use and improve your language skills free of charge.
Learn German in a different way! Once a year, the Bénédict School holds a large project week. During this time our course participants leave their classrooms and head for unconventional places of learning, such as museums or retirement homes, where they engage with art historical topics or interview seniors about their lives. The highlight of the projects each year is an exhibition at which the participants present their results.
